Mobile Hotspot Loan Program

For students whose remote learning environments don’t provide adequate Internet access, OIT made available 400 mobile hotspot devices which connect to the cellular network to provide network connectivity, free of charge.

Student Laptop and Equipment Distribution Program

OIT acted quickly to identify and secure 500 rental laptops for student, then developed an infrastructure to distribute them to students who needed the devices to participate in remote instruction.

One student, Juergen Riedelsheimer had previously depended on the equipment available at UCI’s computer labs. With the campus going remote, he explained, “Since we don’t have that access to UCI [anymore], it was a logical transition to kind of bring that technology home with me. Now I’m able to be competitive and do the things I need to do.”

Wellness, Health & Counseling Services

WHCS has remained on campus to ensure we have full IT operations support for the Student Health Center and other ancillary WHCS departments such as the Counseling Center, to ensure a smooth transition to remote or hybrid-remote work models for these departments which provide critical resources for our student body.

  • Configured remote devices and assisted in training for Providers to address patient care via Telehealth Services
  • Assisted in implementing MS Teams and SharePoint for remote departments for staff to stay connected.
  • Implemented VoIP solutions for the Counseling Center so they can continue to provide remote services.
  • Ongoing projects include EPCS (Electronic Prescription of Controlled Substances) for Psychiatry.
