UCI Impact

Infrastructure and Commodity Services

Certain technologies enable and leverage a wide range of IT services and business processes.  The network, the telephone system, and the information in the campus directory all help you get your job done.  Access to information about how to use IT tools and services, or how well they're performing during the workday help you make effective moment-to-moment decisions.

UCI Directory Enhancements

We consolidated the UCI directory (LDAP) and made the fuzzy-search feature available by default.

New IP Phones

We issued many new feature-rich, network-connected telephone sets.

Pingdom

We introduced Pingdom, a tool which allows the campus to see the status of IT services in real time.

Cellular Infrastructure

We improved cell phone service on campus by facilitating the expansion of cellular infrastructure.

Siteimprove

We introduced Siteimprove, a tool to assess your websites for accessibility, content quality, and security.

Wired and Wireless Network

We made several network improvements including increased WiFi coverage and performance, and upgraded aging wired network equipment for increased reliability, performance, and security.

Unified Messaging

We made the next steps toward unified messaging,

upgrading the telephone system software so you can now get notifications and access your voicemail

by upgrading the telephone system software so you can now get notifications and access your voicemail from your computer or mobile device.

Self-Service Portal

We launched our self-service portal where you can request help, order services, find solutions, and track your issues.
